Lots of love shared by all!

It's 7:00 pm on Sunday night and Brett and I have returned home after an incredible weekend of Share the Love. There was so much wonderful support for the Reesman family and Women's Health Exchange it made me proud to be a part of this event and to call western Massachusetts my home. So many beautiful families came through the doors of my "weekend studio" and I couldn't have been happier. I think we filled just about every time slot and every shoot was a blast...even the kids we had to bribe with stock options and ponies for their next birthday:)

Amy and Dawn and Quinn came for their official shoot this morning. Thornes doesn't officially open until noon so we had some quiet time together to start the day and capture some pictures of Dawn as she begins the next phase in her treatment, and to preserve a few moments of these brave women and their beautiful son. It was very emotional to be connected to such an intense time in this family's life and I was honored to be given the opportunity to document this moment.

You see, at the end of last year I too found a lump in my breast. I hadn't been feeling well and so when I found it I was pretty scared. I had it checked out and in January I had a small surgery to have it removed. Waiting to hear the results was one of the longest 24 hours in my life. The lump was benign. At that time I knew I wanted to do something to show my gratitude for this life.

Thank you to each and every one of you who showed your love and support. Thank you for stopping by for a portrait or just to make a donation. Thanks to Geography Gerry for his great trivia and his lovely donation. Thanks to the wonderful people of Thornes Marketplace for their incredible generosity, flexibility, and graciousness. Thanks to the greatest volunteers throughout the weekend. Thanks to the Valley Advocate, the Republican, Tiger Press, and Kelsey Flynn of The River. Thank you to the Women's Health Exchange for being a sponsor of this event, their beautiful Remember Beads, and to Martha Hayward for being so kind and lovely. And to the Reesman family for sharing their life. You are loved deeply.

I hope to have gobs of photos to share throughout the week but for now I would like to say thank you. Thank you for the opportunity to share my love for photography and people to help some really amazing people. You are courageous and strong and I am so proud of you.

With love,

  1. Sandra -- that is so beautifully said! and what a fabulous event you pulled off~~

  2. This was an awesome event, my family and friends were able to support a wonderful family and have a photo shoot wiht a Phenomenal photographer. They have all been jealous of the photos we have had with Sandra in the past and finally got there opportunity.
It was a win for all!

  3. What a great event. While my sister struggled with a year long battle with Ovarian Cancer, I watched with admiration and humble appreciation as friends and family and community rose up to support her (and us) in so many ways. I was glad to support another family as they go through this huge journey. And I can't wait to see the photos!
